Lessons to
Learn from the Life of Judas Iscariot
Judas Iscariot
was one of the Twelve, an apostle and a preacher of the Gospel of salvation but
he had no heart for Christ. He sold his Master into the hands of His enemies
for a monetary reward. He was a victim of the love of money, a common love
among men.
He was a
backslider or an apostate who never was born again. He never had the new nature
within him (2 Corinthians 5:17). He merely outwardly followed the Lord but
never had a change of heart. He walked in the company of the Lord Jesus; heard
His sermons; was acquainted with His ways, and he experienced His hospitality
but he had no heart for Christ.
If one has
knowledge of spiritual things, but his heart is not transformed, he becomes
callous and wicked and a suitable hand for the devil to use to achieve an evil
end.
One can be versed in scripture, with the ability to memorize
and quote verse by verse, or have an impeccable record of service in ministry
(Matthew 7:22) but have a cold and callous, hardened heart towards the Lord.
Judas Iscariot
merely professed Christ but did not possess Him. He preached a Gospel he did
not know and did not believe in. He preached a gospel that made no impact on
his life and he was never a saved person though he followed the Lord.
This is a
solemn warning to those who claim to be Christians to learn from the life of
Judas Iscariot and beware of head knowledge, lip profession Christianity which
is the spirit of religion without salvation(Matthew 7:21-23) (Matthew 15:8) and seek to have the right
heart for Christ (Ezekiel 36:26).
Prayers:
1. Lord Jesus, deliver me from the
spirit of religion without salvation.
2. Blood of Jesus, wash my heart.
